Here we have a very fine British Victorian Era Queens South Africa Medal with 3 bars awarded to Kitchner’s Horse that remains in excellent condition. The silver is with an attractive age tone. The planchet exhibits very fine detail and has a very small edge nick at the 9 o’clock position on the obverse side and a slight edge bump at the 6 o’clock position on the reverse side neither of which are in any way distracting. The obverse bears the profile of the elder, veiled Queen Victoria. The reverse has the figure of Britannia pointing to the letter “F” in the word “Africa”. The medal has the bars “Cape Colony”, “Orange Free State” and “South Africa 1901” attached to the suspender. The bars are affixed by means of the original rivets that remain tight and un tampered with. The medal is impressed in the correct style with the name, “23409 Tpr: M. Heron, Kitchener’s H.” This is a very fine example to an illustrious Boer War mounted unit that is in original and untouched condition.
