RUSSIAN ORDER OF THE RED BANNER MEDAL BAR OF 4 MEDALS INCLUDING BERLIN – MOUNTED ON ORIGINAL RIBBONS
[830]
$350.00

This is a really nice Russian medal bar consisting of 4 medals that remains in complete and untouched condition. The medals consist of the Order of the Red Banner #785178, the Medal for Valor, the Defense of Caucasus Medal and the Medal for the Victory over Germany. The Order of the Red Banner has a minor enamel repair on the high fold of the flag. This was most definitely caused by contact with the other medals during use in the field. It will be remembered the Russian servicemen wore their medals and decorations in combat. The Medal for Valor is un numbered but retains 100% of the red enamel down in the lettering. This group is mounted on the original ribbons and with the original brass back plate. It is complete with its fully functional pin and catch assemblies. A point to note is that Russian WWII medal groups could be sent to a central location in Moscow to have the ribbons replaced and remounted when they became worn an tattered. The replacement ribbons are apparent enough but if the back plate is aluminum instead of brass this is a sure way to tell that the pieces have been remounted from their original WWII configuration. Although the ribbons on this bar are, in fact, a bit tatty they are still the original ribbons mounted on the correct WWII brass back plate and as such are much more desirable than a remounted set. This is still a fine looking group awarded to a heroic son of Mother Russia for bravery during the Second World War.
