This is a spectacular British Victorian Era Turkish Crimea Medal with custom made suspension awarded to a member of the 79th Highland Regiment that remains in excellent condition. This medal is the British issue of the medal with the proper British flag and English inscription on the reverse side. The original ring suspension for the ribbon has been contemporarily replaced by a much more ornate device that consists of a horizontal broadsword over two sprigs of highland thistle. This device had been made of coin silver. The top broach is also custom made from coin silver and is a very ornately decorated slip through buckle type. It is complete with its fully functional pin and catch assemblies. The ribbon appears to be original to the piece. The planchet is hand engraved in period correct style, No. 2115 SERGt. JAMES COUTTS, 79th REGIMENT. This is just one fantastic looking custom arrangement made especially for this British veteran of the Crimean War.
