$3,750.00

This is a beautiful Civil War Model 1850 Staff and Field Officers sword that remains in excellent condition. The sharkskin handle is 99% intact with signs of only slight use. It retains all of the original wire wrapping. The hilt has a beautiful cut out”US” surrounded by a floral motif. The “U.S.” is much more fancy then normally encountered on this model sword. Much of the original gilt remains on the pommel, hand guard and hilt. Attached to the hand guard is a beautiful and completely original office’s gold bullion knot that is original to the sword. Upon close inspection it can be easily ascertained that the knot has been on this sword for a very long time. The blade retains a bright finish that has nicely and evenly toned. It is etched with stands of arms, the “U.S.”, an eagle and floral designs. There are no nicks to the blade or evidence of any sharpening. The original factory tip remains intact. The blade has no markings on the recasso or anywhere that can be seen. The brass mounted steel scabbard s free from rust, dents or any other type of damage. The brass throat, middle ring fitting and drag are more ornate then usually bound on this model sword. On the reverse side of the throat is an area within a box for a presentation inscription as can be seen in the photos. The bluing to the steel is thin but it retains a beautiful mellow and even patina overall. This is one beautiful example that completely speaks for itself and remains in very fine condition.
