image141 - BRITISH WWII DISTINGUISHED FLYING CROSS IN ROYAL MINT PRESENTATION CASE – DATED 1944

This a magnificent and completely original British World War II Distinguished Flying Cross in its black leatherette Royal Mint presentation case. The heavy silver cross is finely detailed and suspended from its original white ribbon with diagonal purple stripes. It is mounted on the original pin assembly, which is complete and fully functional. The obverse of the cross exhibits sharp detail and is nicely age toned. The lower arm on the reverse side is officially engraved, “1944” and is beautifully age toned as well. The black leatherette case is flawless and is inscribed, “D.F.C.” in silver leaf on the upper lid. The interior of the lid is marked with the seal of the Royal Mint. The case is strong and solid with tight hinge and functional spring closure button. This is an extremely scarce British military aviation decoration as awarded to members of the Royal Air Force who distinguished themselves while engaged in aerial combat during both the First and Second World Wars..

This is a nice Vietnam War clip-on type canteen carrier for wear on the pistol belt and a 30 round magazine for the M-16 rifle. Both are in solid operational condition. There is a faint manufactures mark on the back of the canteen carrier. Both pieces are without damage of any kind.

Here we have a nice Vietnam War combat entrenching tool with carrier in excellent condition. The blade is deeply stamped, “U.S., H-W – 1952”. Both the shovel and cover are without any damage and are fine examples. An essential piece of Vietnam War field gear.

image144 - WWI BRITISH MILITARY CROSS IN BOX OF ISSUE WITH DOCUMENTS TO RECIPIENT – MINT!

This is a magnificent First World War GV Military Cross in its original presentation case in near mint condition. The silver cross is exquisitely detailed on the obverse side and is without naming on the reverse. It is suspended from its original white ribbon with wide lavender center stripe and is mounted with its original pin assembly. The case is completely without damage and has a beautiful cipher in gold leaf on the outer lid. The inner white flocked base is recessed for the cross and which provides a perfect fit. Accompanying this exquisite piece are two documents to the recipients, 2nd Lieutenant G.W. Suttcliff of the Yorkshire Regiment. One of these documents is a copy of Army Orders from General Sir G.H. Rawlinson, GVCO, KCB, KCMG Commanding Fourth Army listing immediate awards for gallantry in action upon which 2nd Lt. Suttcliff’s name appears for an immediate award of the Military Cross and the other is a congratulatory certificate from General Rawlinson, signed by him, congratulating Lt. Suttcliff on his award of the Miliary Cross. A complete and extremely fine looking and grouping.

image145 - WWI BRITISH MILITARY MEDAL MINIATURE GROUP OF 5 WITH 2 BAR QSA & TRIO – CHOICE!

This is a very nice British Boer War and First World War Military Medal group of miniatures in excellent condition. The group consists of a World War I George V Military Medal, the Queens South Africa Medal with bars “Cape Colony” and “South Africa 1902”, the 1914-18 Star, the British War Medal and the World War I Victory Medal. All medals are mounted on their original ribbons and sewn with their original stitching to the medal bar. They all exhibit a very attractive age toning and exceptionally fine detail. The ribbons are without fraying and remain strong, solid and with vibrant color. A very attractive gallantry group to a long service man that is in excellent condition.
