image095 - GERMAN WWII NATIONAL PROTECTION POLICE ('REICHSCHUTZPOLIZEI') ENLISTED RANKS SHAKO

Price: $725.00

This is an extremely fine example of German WWII National Protection Police ('Reichschutzpolizei') Enlisted Ranks Shako in excellent condition. The rigid body is cover with a fine police green wool fabric. The visor and crown are of black patent leather and remain in excellent condition with only the slightest hint of mild age crazing to the surface. The black leather chinstrap remains in place and is complete with its silver metal alloy fittings. The stamped aluminum police eagle affixed to the front is beautifully vaulted and also without damage. The removable multi-colored cockade above the front eagle plate is completely intact and excellent. There is one shallow scuff to cockade but other than this the entire piece remains in excellent condition. There are two nice police green finished “salt & pepper” type ventilation ports on each side of helmet with the leather trim around edge of helmet's base exhibiting some slight scuffing in places. The underside of both visors is finished in a dark green enamel. The leather liner is slightly darken from use but remains soft and supple retaining the original drawstring and size stamped “54½” on the leather. There is one small area of moth damage just above eagle's left wing tip on front. This minor defect is really insignificant when considering the overall beauty of this superb piece. It remains a very presentable piece in a condition far better than normally encountered.
